The Steimker Duet in Wolfsburg

Apartment building with 38 residential units
In cooperation with Meyer Projektentwicklung, the duet of two apartment buildings in Wolfsburg was created in the Steimker Gärten development area. On a common underground parking lot, 38 residential units were realized here in the KfW 55 efficiency house standard.
The two buildings form a duet that relates to each other and complements one another in the process.
An unbeatable duo, completed in 2022.

Boulders
The two buildings on Steimker Berg look as if they were stranded on a terminal moraine: in the midst of a green landscape, the boulders turn their stone volumes towards each other; broken edges create references to the geometry of the garden square and the green gap.
Green clods structure the open spaces, create quality of stay, and provide space for deciduous trees to root and grow. Wooden sliding shutters in front of the loggias bring the facades to life and set them in motion.

Elegant and sensual: inside, curved staircase walls become sculpture and wind their way up five stories to the staggered floor. They combine the round with the angular and, in strong contrasts, create an irresistible sight that promises new pleasure again and again.

The recurring structures of stone dimensions, window axes and floor plans formulate architectural clarity, while the play of wooden shutters provides a deliberate contrast. The sliding wooden shutters create facades that live with their inhabitants and constantly create a new image of themselves.
