In new Robe
In future, judgments will be handed down in a new guise: in the restrained color palette of the Grand Courtroom at Dannenberg District Court.
Its new appearance is based on historical color findings and serves as a reference to the 1960s, the period since which the former ballroom has been used for judicial proceedings.
In combination with the gray-green tones of the paneling, the oak herringbone parquet flooring, and the white wall design, a harmonious triad emerges, lending the space an almost meditative atmosphere.
wood, clay, stone
For a long time, the historic half-timbered structure was hidden behind plasterboard.
Now it has been revealed and, after more than 250 years, can be seen in all its glory.
The wood shows its age and bears many scars, the clay bricks in the compartments are clearly visible and form a strong relief under the applied clay slurry. Rustic and...visible & beautiful!
Hat on!
At the end of the year, the connecting building of the Dannenberg District Court finally has a roof over its head.
In the future, it will be connecting the two listed buildings and provide visitors with barrier-free access—with a view of the Waldemar Tower.
A retirement
home to enjoy
Congratulations on moving into your
new home!
With great care and much passion for detail, attention was paid to historical substance and sustainable materials when building in a listed building: The façade impresses with half-timbered brickwork made from old, reclaimed stone. Natural clay insulation with clay plaster and clay paint ensures a healthy indoor climate. Windows in keeping with the listed building blend harmoniously into the overall picture and underline the special character of the house. A successful interplay of tradition and contemporary living!
Guest lecture
Mutual respect, discussion and cooperation between craftsmen and specialist planners are essential for the creation of architectural values. Unfortunately, this often does not work in reality. Prof. Katja-Annika Pahl has been researching and working on this topic at the School of Architecture Bremen for years.
In special teaching projects “Craftsmanship and Architecture”, craftspeople in master craftsman training and architecture students work together on design projects with a practical and reality check.
She will also be presenting some of her award-winning projects, which demonstrate outstanding collaboration with the skilled trades.
