Igelschule in Lüneburg Neu Hagen

The integrative all-day elementary school was extensively renovated and supplemented by an extension. The classic central corridor concept stems from the existing structure: combined with a new, vibrant color and material scheme, it creates a stimulating learning environment (atmosphere) that offers orientation and identification. q:arc was responsible for planning phases 5-7 and supervised the implementation in phase 8.

Build to
head

The existing building of the "Hedgehog School" is being given a new head-end building, whose bay window extends far out into the greenery: The two stories of the new lookout extend over four and a half meters beyond the existing building line. Nearly six meters wide panoramic windows bring the treetops from across directly into the classroom.

School
can be
fun...

… with fresh vibrant colors that inspire and create a cheerful atmosphere, with textures that promote communication and togetherness, with plenty of light, air, warmth, and views of the greenery. With healthy and genuine materials that make one forget the sometimes gray school routine.

experience
color

Let’s make it colorful: the stairwell becomes a bright yellow sunrise, the floor a grassy green, and the wood-framed doors cool it all down with fresh petrol. Floor-specific color codes create orientation, identification, and last but not least, the necessary variety.

The "sunrise": the staircase in warm yellow tone and with round lights that resemble small suns
